Dear Members,

I am Iraqi National, traveling to USA though Canada (Non-Imm Visa) for a Scientific Conference Purpose. I booked a ticket on Air Canada, transit will be for 6 hours at Toronto.

Do I require a Transit Visa for Canada, although I am traveling on the same transportation (Air Canada) for less than 48 hours? I am confused Please help.

Kindly Clarify..

Thanks

  1. Is this correct...you are travelling from Iraq to the U.S. through Canada?  Then, yes, you DO need a visa for Canada as well as for the U.S.    You can use the site below to see this...enter your nationality, enter Canada as your transit point, enter U.S.A. as destination and click for the info to see that you do need a transit visa for Canada.   2nd site confirms this.  Problem is, I do not believe there is currently a Canadain Embassy in

Iraq.  Maybe a travel agency could help you with this.

  2. you do not need a visa to visit Canada.

You need at least 2 valid photo ID cards, and a passport if you plan to fly here.

I'm Canadian, I travel, my friends from other places travel a lot as well.

You do not need a visa unless you plan on working here or moving here or studying here. You're not doing any of that, you're simply going to a conference in Toronto!

If you have the chance while in Toronto, go to the Worlds Biggest Book Store, it's amazing!!

  3. yes you do need a tourist via or business visa, please check immigration canada website to apply. As long as you are landing on Canadian soil and leaving the plane and the airport you do require a visa

  4. yes you need a visa for canada even though you are just transiting

and you need a visa for the US too
