  1. That's easy! Just go to Paddington station and jump on almost any train! Don't forget your surfboard! (We do it all the time!) Book a few weeks in advance on firstminutefares for the cheapest tickets.

  2. Cornwall isn't a city! It's a county and there is only one city in Cornwall which is Truro - the capital! The rest is built of towns and villages! If you were to go by Plane the only airport in Cornwall is Newquay so to get to your destination you would have to catch a bus or taxi to get there or you could get a short bus ride to Newquay town centre and catch a train. Or you could just do the whole journey by train and find out the nearest train stations to your destination and catch a bus from the station. I think your better off getting a train as we have only have one airport but several train stations!

  3. I reckon Cornwall is bigger than you think! It is about 70 miles from Launceston to Penzance.  It depends on to where you wish to go in the county. Truro is the only city, but it doesn't have an airport, the only commercial one from London is at Newquay, and train stations are few and far between. Train services are slow, inconvenient, and expensive. There is another airport at the City of Plymouth, just over the border in Devon, that has four flights a day to Gatwick.

National Express, the coach company has a daily trip to Penzance, with stops down through Cornwall. London Victoria to the Cornish border town of Launceston takes about 5 hours.

Edit: Hi Pedestal. It's not nice here either, to the North of Launceston, cold, wet, and windy.

  4. train is usually best for Cornwall ... and by the way Cornwall is a county with several cities and large towns ... you'll need to know which place in Cornwall you want to reach ... train info from

unless you're going to Newquay in which case you might want to investigate flying

  5. train , its easier im in the uk and trains the quickest way everywhere. but to get to the uk aeroplane obviously.

  6. A train out of Paddington, almost certainly, for speed and convenience.  Plan your trip: advance tickets are much cheaper. (for cost, a coach to Penzance appears to be £50 to £55 return, compared to £75 by train, at first glance, but it depends on dates and times.  The coach takes about two hours more. )

Unless you're going to be based in a biggish town: Penzance, Truro, St Austell, you are going to find the public transport pretty restricting, and even then needing planning. (or were you thinking of hiring a car once you get here?)

If you are in a group of three or more, it might pay to drive down from London, but not if you are on your own.

(edit: Hi, Steffi!  It's wet here just west of Launceston!

And you're right, it is a long county.)
