if i am traveling to several different countries do i need several different passports.

  1. No, you only need one.  But it is important to keep copies of important docs like that in a separate place in case if they get lost or stolen.

  2. No, you only need one passport.

    BUT you might need different visas - check with the consulate of the country you are going to, in order to see if you might need a visa to go there. Or they will turn you away at the border.

If you're traveling to countries in the European Union then you only need one visa (Shenghen) and you get it fromt he consulate of the country in which you will be entering from.  For all other countries you require seperate visas but there are also some that have diplomatic relationships with your home country (I'm not sure where you're from) and those do not require you to get anything (Dominican Republic gives you a tourist card at the airport for example)

  4. no, you only need one passport unless you are fortunate enough to have dual nationality. If this is the case then carry both and choose which one depending on politics of the country you are visiting.

    Scan a copy of the photo page and passport number and email it to yourself besides carrying a photocopy backup  too.
