Question:

Traveling with a camp stove?

So I'm going camping and need to being a stove. I'm bringing a Wisperlite. Has anyone traveled with this type of stove by plane before? I'm thinking that even if the fuel bottle is empty the security/airlines might not like it since there is probably some fuel residue/fumes inside. I'd rather not get Guantanamo-ed on my vacation. Do I need to buy a brand new empty bottle just for this trip?

  1. its not camping if you have a stove

  2. you have to buy gas or fuel at the place - city - town - area you travel to, transport on the plane is forbidden and the security will call you to take it off your luggage !

I had the same problem and that is years ago. Guess how strict they are now. ;-)
