Question:

Traveling with my betta?

I'm going on a two to three hour road trip, the last time I did this I put my betta in the container I bought him in and kept him in the air conditioned car until we got to the hotel. He did perfectly fine. But now, on the way to the city, we're going to make a stop at a water park before we check into the hotel- which is about another hour away. That made me change my mind to keep my betta at home, because if we took him, he'd die in the car!

Would the best idea be to keep him at home? We'll be gone for four or five days, how would he be fed?

I'm open to all other ideas or what you have done in this situation. I can't keep him at a friends house because they're out of town too.

  1. Pet's Mart or Petco have special Beta feeder tablets for when you're away on vacation.  He probably would not do well going 3 -4 days with no food at all when he's used to being fed so often.

  2. How would YOU do without food?  I'm hungry just thinking about it.  Have you ever eaten Betta?  Is it any good?  Breaded maybe?  I don't know.  Maybe some tartar sauce?

  3. you must have other friends or you could ask a neigboor

  4. Don't buy any of the vacation feeder things - I've tried them, the bettas don't eat them, they pollute the water...it's just a mess, and they aren't worth your money. Your betta will be absolutely fine for a few days without food. Just give him a little extra before you leave, and a nice meal once you get back. Bettas can survive for up to a month with no food, so don't worry about him starving to death.

    Good luck!
