Question:

Traveling with pets in Greece?

We (three adults) are traveling from Athens to Zante, and none of us drives, so we have to use public transportation.

The problem is, that we have five pets (four cats and a dog) that we want to take along.

Since we are staying until September, we don’t want to give them in pet care.

The KTEL busses don’t accept pets anymore, so we were thinking of either going by train or taking a taxi.

How does one get to Kyllini by train? I checked out the OSE website, but can’t figure out how to get to Patras or Pyrgos.

How much do you think a cab would be?

I would appreciate answers from people who live in Greece and have indeed an idea what I am talking about. Thanks!

  1. Well, that's a problem indeed. A cab will cost too much, and l am not sure if the cab drivers are pet-friendly. Also consider that you will carry with you five pet-boxes which most likely means you will need two cabs!!!!  A cab l guess will cost 120 - 150 EUR. Why don't you go by boat? HML ferries if l am not mistaken travel from Patra to Zakynthos ( final destination is Brindisi) and transportation for dogs or cats it's free of charge.

You can ask HML hml@ferries.gr   or call Hellas Ferries in Athens : 2103315905

  2. Hi, try this http://www.pettaxi.gr/english.html

I haven't used it yet (I have 2 cats) so I can't tell you experiences...All I know is that you need to call some days in advance..

    Good luck!
