Travelling Alone-Ireland??

I'm thinking of cycling around ireland (from cork) on a solo adventure to visit new places and possibly make new friends while staying at a hostel. Anyone had experience at this kind of thing? if so where would you recommend??

One of my best friends met his now wife that way.  You never know what will happen.  :)

Lucky! I'd love to do that very thing. I can't say I've been there, done that. However, I do have friends over there who would most likely tell you to bring a poncho, camera and lots of film. The western coast of Eire is absolutely GORGEOUS! I'm hoping to go there within the next year as well.
