Travelling Alone for the first time?

Hi, i'm planning on going to Paris this november by myself for a sight seeing holiday.

Are there any tips that i may find useful, such as travelling around the city, tourist destinations, keeping myself safe etc

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Im a bit nervous about this!!!

Hi, best safety tip, make sure someone knows where you are.  for more info on Paris, run a search thru www.google.com for tourist information.    Spread your money about, don't keep it all in one place. have fun.

Well, it's been a decade since I last visited Paris, but a few helpful hints for foreign travel.  Speak the language, even if only a little bit; divide your funds and never carry it all in one place; get a city map and plan your day before you leave your hotel in the morning.  I know this isn't as much detail as you might want, but the U.S. dollar is running about 1.60 to each Euro right now, so depending on the length of your stay, I would recommend no less than 1,000 U.S.D. outside of travel and lodging expenses.  You can definitely get by on less, but it never hurts to have a "bumper".  Also, allot more than one day for the Louvre...depending on the time of year (and November is pretty good for a visit) you can spend hours in line waiting to be admitted.  

As far as tourist destinations, the Eiffel tower is cool, but also, like the Louvre, sometimes there can be a long wait.  I recommend the Tuileries, Mal Maison (Josephine's estate, with some exquisite gardens), Monet's estate, which is outside of Paris, Sacre Coeur Basilica by way of Montmartre (the highest point in Paris at 130 m and a breathtaking view).  There are a million other places you'll discover that I could never describe here.  In November, it's likely to be a great deal different than it was during the summer I visited. Get used to taking the train/subway, the safest, easiest, and cheapest way to get around Paris. Good luck and have fun!
