  1. I would say it's much cheaper to make the occasional phone call from a phone box and rely on internet the rest of the time. Internet cafes are relatively easy to find and I much cheaper and easier way of keeping in touch in my opinion. I'm off to Australia in October and will be buying an Aussie sim card for my phone but I think if I was travelling around different countries I'd definitely rely on the internet.

  2. my son travells alot abroad with his job he finds it cheaper to buy a cheap phone when he gets to his detination, use there server, and then chuck it or keep it till he goes again, for each country, unless its europe. hope this helps ja

  3. In australia and New Zealand you can buy phone cards. I use a card here in Australia called Day break and can phone New zealand England and Canada for about 2 cents that is about one pence per minute. They are excellent value. It will cost the amount of a local call then you are asked for your code number which is on the card then they tell you to dial the number you want overseas. There are many of these cards all slightly different some take out a charge maybe a dollar at the start of using it The Day break doesn't. You can buy them at various placesand they usually advertise on their windows but if he can't find the Day break one then Coles Supermarket sell a similar one .Can't remember the name of them  in NZ but ask at a corner store. . Don't use hotel phones they charge a fortune.  http://www.ozprepaidcards.com.au/Carddet...
