  1. It is sooo worth it. It saves you so much money and can get you to your destination a lot faster most of the time

  2. I would wait... some are so cheap if you take regional trains. They're a little longer but worth the money you save whereas Eurorail can be very expensive. HAVE FUN!

  3. I just got back from Italy 2 weeks ago.  I traveled on the train everywhere.  The train 1 way from Naples to Rome is 19.50 Euros for 2nd class.  I would buy your tickets just as you go- it is the most convenient.  Have fun!

  4. Hi i'm italian, i suggest you to buy an interrail ticket "one country" for italy only because it will cost less. Indeed if you take the Eurostar you'll pay up to 60euros if you take the ticket from milan to rome and 45euros from rome to naples or viceversa. On the contrary an interrail ticket costs 109 euros and it allows you to travel also to other cityes like florence or venice. Remember thet with the interrail tickets you can't go on Eurostar but only on IC, "Regionali" or "espressi" i advice you to take IC, which are faster and more confortable.

  5. No idea these days! Did it years ago, Milton Keynes to Naples, return. My guess would be cheaper there, the railway used to be (may still be) well subsidised. I really want to do it again, we had a fantastic holiday! aren't you going to Venice? train is definitely the best way to arrive there!

Very envious!!! have a great time!

Edit: one tip, if you are catching a bus in Naples (probably the same elsewhere) you buy tickets before you get on! there are kiosks that sell papers cigs etc AND bus tickets! we didn't know, got escorted off the bus to a kiosk by the armed bus inspector.......Lol!... wasn't so funny at the time!

  6. Traveling in North Italy i would say the train are cleaner and on time but once you hit Naples and anywhere south , it gets a little ghetto. You well see what i mean when you get there. I agree, It's cheaper to just purchase tickets there since your only going to 3 places, If your a student that is under 25 that's even better. You save like 30-40 %. Tickets are very fare in Italy compare to France. Well get ready for the heat and mayhem once you get in to Rome especially this time of year. Have fun and be safe in Naples(pick pockets)

  7. Italy's transport system is very good value and travelling around on trains there is cheap, so I would recommend you purchase tickets when you are there.

  8. In your case one way is best. The trains are pretty good but are not always reliable because delays and strikes are more common now.

Have a good time and relax, everyone is on holiday in July.

  9. here's the home page for trenitalia.. the trains in italy are pretty good.. try the lemon pie in the buffet car it's to die for..mmmmmmm

good advise from groovyma... always buy your bus tickets at a tabbachi before you get on the bus.. always stamp your tickets when you get on the bus aswell..

in napoli the bus inspectors prey on tourists who don't know this...... and you'll get an on the spot fine which you have to pay there and then..

july will be very hot and humid in milano and roma.. today the radio has issued a weather warning for italy as temperatures are going to hit 38-39°...

  10. check out websites for the euro star, or euro rail. also just google up, trains and europe or maybe italy as your keywords! good luck searching!
