Travelling around europe?

me and some friends are interested on going a road trip around europe starting in norway and working our way south, south east and back to the UK.

What car vehicle should we take with us for (5 people) and only looking to spend £1000 exc insurance etc..

What roads/sights are a must from norway, through sweden, denamark, germany, poland, austria etc.??

i was thining a 4x4 off road vehicle

every one will fit comfortably and you wont have problems with the terrain

but gas prices could be high
