Travelling by train..help?

Hey, well i'm looking to travel by train from manchester to london i've had no success in finding a good sight with a cheap fare..anyone know any? thanks.

  1. You go to the train operators' sites.  Different sites don't give different prices.  Or go to the national Rail Enquiries site.  Note that the bus would be cheaper.


  2. Have you tried www.megatrain.com ?

    There was an article in the transport trade press last month lamenting the fact that many of the on-line sites charged a higher price for tickets than the Train Operating Company.

    So try looking on the Virgin Rail site. You might need to dig for it.

    One last point. If you are coming back the same day, you might have problems, especially if your train arrives in London before 10am. These trains are classed as "peak" and are charged at a higher rate.
