Travelling by train in the UK?

My friend wants to travel from Ipswitch (England) to Glasgow (Scotland) What is the fastest way to do this by train? What trains train #s will he need to get on etc, and could you provide links, thanks!

    Just go to the Scotland section, go to 'plan your journey' and type in the details (from ipswich, to glasgow, and uncheck all the boxes except rail) to get these results:

    The quickest option looks like taking a train to london (liverpool st), then underground to london euston station, and from there to glasgow central station. Here's the details:
