Question:

Travelling from OTTAWA TRAIN/BUS!?

I'm wondering if there are any buses or trains to take me from Ottawa to either Toronto and Montreal but return that same night. I mean like early morning departure and same night arrivals. I just really want to go to an amusmant park and have no transportation what so ever. Something like greyhound or maybe a train company, I know VIARAIL can be expensive though. Please include costs.

THANK YOU :)

  1. Round trip by train to Montreal if you book in advance can be as low as $53.55 including taxes. It's also more fun and waaaay more comfortable.  Unfortunately, the schedule kinda stinks as the the last train is at 6pm. (No more night train *cries*.)

Round trip by train to Toronto is $123.90 (again if booking in advance) but the problem here is the train to Toronto is around 4 hours. You will probably NOT want to do a same day return trip to Toronto either by bus OR train because you just won't have enough time to do much of anything once you get to TO.

The bus schedule to Montreal is awesome. they have buses practically every hour (on the hour) and if you book in advance the rate is $57.40 (student is $43.50). You can leave as early as 6am (or later) and leave Mtl. on the midnight bus which will give you plenty of time in the city.

Regardless of whether or not you chose bus or train (personally, I would probably go down by train and back by bus) both will drop you off at Metro stations in Montreal which will quite easily take you to Jean-Drapeau Metro (formerly known as Ile-Ste. Helene).

    Have a great trip!

  2. From Ottawa your best bet would be Greyhound bus to Montreal for same day return.  That way you can take public transit in Montreal to la ronde.  I checked and their web site said about $70 and they had lots of busses right up until midnight.
