Travelling on 25th December from Shannon - HELP!?

Hi everyone! I am going to travel from Poland to Ireland. I have a flight on 25th December to the Shannon Airport but unfortunately I have to get to Castlebar or at least to Galway but there is no such a bus connection on this day :( I am at 10 am at the airport and the first bus is at 8.30 am but the next day!!! I don't want to spend christmas on the airport!! :( please help mi to find some connection!!! Do you think hitch-hiking is a good idea?? Especially on this day ?

haha......very odd day to travel, i can see sense if you knew the area but shannon is very out of the way and not much around once you leave the airport.

taxi is an option but you would pay way over the usual rate as its christmas day, especially to galway.  maybe change the day either to the 24th or the day or two after.

either way its going to cost you probably 100 euros to change the ticket or over that for the taxi.

To be honest, it was not a good day to travel to ireland. All public transportation stops on Christmas day. You could try hitch-hiking but shannon is quite a rural area, there will not be many cars especially on christmas- everyone will be at home

taxis are available. also try and see if you can strike up a conversation with folks in the rental car lines, they might be able to give you a ride into town. check with citylink they might run all the time.
