Travelling on a boat - rules the same as airplane?

Hi,

I'm going to Paris by boat, what are the procedures when going on a boat? Is it like travelling by plane, going through the metal detector things? Can you only have 15kg of luggage?? Anything else I should know? I'm scared and don't want any surprises!!

It is legal to have sexual intercourse on a boat, but not on a plane.
