Question:

Travelling plane with dog...?

When the dog is in the cargo area, will it ever be to hot or cold for the dog? (going from Canada to Israel). Also, will the dog be treated with respect by members of the airline? (air canada). Is it aloud to but your dog on some type of medication that will make it sleep the whole trip?

Any tips much appreciated, I want my dog to be happy, so please be helpful, thanks

  1. The cargo area is heated when livestock is being carried, and yes they are treated well.

Speak to your vet about a sedative for your dog, some travel better without it.

  2. I am telling you an extract of IATA (International Air Transport Associations) Regulation of carrying pet in cabbin.

First of all you need to request Air Canada to carry a dog with you. They will ask you for some specific tests of your dog (to ensure the safety). After that you will need a special aviation standard cage for your dog. Your dog will be booked in Cargo. sometime the approval procedure for carrying a pet takes longer. However it would be a little bad experience for your doggy.

Wish him a good flight ;)

  3. Depending on the size of your dog or with special permission, you can take it on the aircraft with you [[smaller dogs can be taken...you can potentially sneak them in and it works like a charm]].

But if your dog is big and wont be allowed, then I'm sure the cargo area will be appropriate. Airplane owners need to watch out for wary owners of pets who could potentially sue for any problems w/ the pets.

You should check online or any other source to see what special care Canada Air provides.

And have fun in Israel (: I love that country (jewww)
