  1. Hi, well if you said that you already is going to Rio for the carnival, and you are staying for 2-3 weeks, I think you will only have time to know the Rio de Janeiro city and other cities in the Rio de Janeiro State.

    I think you must know the cities that the girl before said, Petrópolis - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Petr%C3%B3p... - , Angra dos Reis (has 365 islands) - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Angra_dos_R... - , Armação dos Búzios - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arma%C3%A7%... - , Saquarema - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saquarema - , Paraty - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parati - , Visconde de Mauá - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Visconde_de... - .

If you have more time, there's many more things to see. And personally, I prefer the Bahia carnival of the Rio carnival, but if you never been to Rio carnival, go. You will love it, it's great.

Take care and have a nice trip!

  2. Make sure that you have all the clothing that you need. This includes fitness center wear and swimming trunks. Clothes are expensive there. Also, any electronic devices, cameras, cd's and players, etc have a 100% tax mark-up so take these with you as well. Ex; a $129 digital camera here is over $300 dollars there. They use our kind of wall outlet, so no converter is needed. Keep an eye out for money rip-offs. I once saw a can of Pringles in a grocery for 17 reals.......about $8 US. Save your money to see the sights.

  3. I was in Brazil not to long ago.  I would suggest going to Bahia it's awesome there.  Rio is cool, but a week there is plenty, trust me a change of scenery will be more than welcomed.

  4. I took BTR tours and they have a city tour (Christ and Sugar loaf) and then went to Buzios and Angra. Dont take the favelas tour, you dont want to see the shanty towns! If you are planning on going to the carnival I assume you already booked your hotel as things sell out with a year in advance. If you have time go to Petropolis, I loved the place.
