  1. Assisi and Perugia. Get away from the herd of tourists and visit Umbria, the green heart of Italy. It is covered by woods, its town are historical and have great works of art by some artists like Cimabue, Giotto, Lorenzetti and Simone Martini. I also recommend: Gubbio, Spoleto, Todi, Spello and Bevagna.

  2. Florence is a wonderfull city. And if you visit Florence you have to vist Chianti.

In one day you can visit San Gimignano (which is in the middle of the Chianti region)  and Siena

(San Gimignano and Siena are respectively 30 and 50 minutes from Florence)  in the same direction.

    Enjoy Italy and Tuscany.

  3. Definetly Siena, it is one my favorite places in Italy. Specially the main Piazza, where you can just lay and people watch and eat and everything.  And I loved the towers of San Gimigiamo, great views of Tuscany.

My second choice would be Assisi and Perugia.  Both great cities as well.

Pisa is actually pretty dissapointing.  The leaning tower is great and incredible and all, but there isn't much besides that.  And mostly, it's missing that medieval italian city fabric around it, so you see the tower and get back on the train.

  4. Siena and San Gimignano....both fantastic.

Enjoy, whatever you decided - the whole region is wonderful.

  5. You must go see Pisa.  Everyone needs to be in the presence of the leaning tower at one point in their life.  Florence is an amazingly beautiful place, love it and embrace everything it and its kind people have to offer.  Whatever you do, don't give ANY EUROS to the gypsies.  If you do, they will not leave you alone.  Learn some basic language phrases such as "leave me alone" or "no thank you".

  6. Any of the above will be wonderful. Italian people are very hospitable. I am going to Rome and Pissa,  very soon and also Volterra, staying at the SAN LINO hotel and can't wait! Florence is a beautiful city although crowded. watch out for pickpockets though.

  7. Sienna and San Giamangio or Chianti Region

Both area are amazing. I would skip Pisa, too touristy for me. The vendors hound you.

You will love Florence. Bring money. Beautiful leather pocketbooks and jewelry.

Have a great trip. Wear sensible shoes, you will do a lot of walking where ever you go. Can I come too?

  8. if you head to assisi and perugia, then you have to swing by deruta!  they have amazing ceramics.  like someone said earlier, bring good walking shoes and i highly recommend investing in some actual walking socks.  they provide great support compared to a regular sock.

  9. Good walking shoes and I would go for Assisi and Perugia, are you cristians? If so..you really cannot miss Assisi..

    Enjoy

  10. I went to Siena, when on a trip to Rome, Florence, and Venice. Nice city, but  i have family that has been to Assisi and they recommended Assisi much more than Siena. You picked a great country to visit; Enjoy!
