  1. The distance between Paris & Rome is:

    Miles: 687.11

    Kilometers: 1105.76

and the only practical way to do this is by airplane.

Frankly, you'd waste so much time going to/from airports, plus the cost, that it would not be worthwhile, suggest that you need more time and should fly home out of your destination city.  Once in Rome, you can easily travel by train to Florence and Venice.

Consider making Italy at a different time, 2 days is hardly worth the time, expense and difficulty.

  2. The fastest way to get there is obviously by plane. If you take the right flights on something like EasyJet you can make the flight for something like 100 euros or less round trip.

The real question is why would you want to try to squeeze in a visit to Italy when you have such a limited amount of time?

You've got to check out of your hotel, get to the airport, catch the flight, deplane, find your hotel in Italy, check in and get settled. that going to kill the better part of a day. Ditto on the way back. For what? So you can say you've been to Italy?

  3. My wife has a lot of friends in Paris and though it Paris has some great sites, it was rather expensive...

As the other readers have suggested you really need more than 2 days to visit and truly enjoy a new European city and absorb the culture and sightseeing etc.

We had a great time but what was very memorable was how lucky we were able to save and reduce our lodging costs simply by the fact that we bought Eurarail passes and used our number of days very wisely by booking destinations out to the farthest location which result in sleeping in overnight accommodations aboard the fast European trains.

We actually went from Paris to Madrid via Eurorail, then drove a rental car to Barcelona and then eurorailed to Rome took a rental car to Florence then dropped the car at the border and had a great time on the French Rivera beaches Nice, Cannes and caught the train back to Paris.  My wife is fluent in several languages incl French so on the shorter legs, we found it cheaper just to buy the train tickets out of our own pocket.

Enjoy Your Vacation :<) You've Earned It and God Bless!

  4. Not much time. Going by plane to Venice will take almost a day. 4hrs in airport and plane each way !!! So what can you do  in Italy??? almost 2 days of travel.

My suggestion, take a train to Nice and go to the French Riviera, Go to Monaco, Cannes and you can go for one day in Italy which is nearby in San Remo.  This is  the Italian counterpart of Cannes.

    Have a good trip
