  2. Well very tight schedule,......but i can help.

Ok you come out of Check out area and try to take a Pre Paid Taxi...... remember always to ask Officals and not Locals.

Try asking at the Airport itself that u need a taxi to a hotel and then u need Train tickets to bangalore...Yes travel by Train in AC compartment.... Nowdays you can get Instant booking we call it as Tatkal Scheme...which means Fast booking.

Tell the hotel people to book ur tickets and they must be Confirmed Tickets.....

Travel to bangalore....... spend 3 nights..... and then to Manipal u need to plan accordingly...

As i dont know if u are going to stay in a hotel or at a friends place in bangalore.

from bangalore to manipal its not far...

but u can make bookings from banglore.

  3. I was in Mumbai in December/January.  I recommend making a hotel reservation before you arrive.  We had a hard time finding budget hotels with availability.  We ended up spending $70/night and the hotel was bug free but I wouldn't stay in such a place again.  Mumbai hotels are expensive and if you can spend a little more than $100, I would.  I was last in Bangalore in 2005 but I think you can find a much better hotel there (than in Mumbai) for $100. Also, we used the Govt of Maharashtra tourism place in the airport to get a hotel for one night before we returned to the USA from Mumbai.  I don't recommend that either.  The hotel we got was new (well, still under construction) and busy with lots of other airport guests but it was not nice and was around $70, too.

  4. Hi.

My son and girlfriend left  the U.K. on a low budget to India,Nepal(Himalaya), and many other countries. It took them one year to complete but they found their low daily was plenty. The begun their journey at Mumbai and followed to Goa, then, by camel to the Himalayas. You will find accommodation very good, but beware! there are a lot of people trying to get your money for nothing but a few trfuny tricks. they  mingled  with the people so there were no problems. However, I heard them say that tourists on big hotels are more likely to be targeted as the money hey spend is outrageous for most of them. it. They had no problems but they went at their own pace. money was not as much  as yours. You will find transport cheap. Be careful with hygene as India is no renoun for sanitary high standards.  try to get your trip planned before you leave. The people there are friendly and easy an equally ready to lighten your purse by performing special tricks for you.  Lots of Hotels for a lot less than $/100per night. Travel between cities according to your schedule I was told thee is everything there which you will be able to choose  from. Planes trains, buses, camels and more. I can give you precise information on your question if my son comes here this afternoon.  we are in the U.K. so there might be a a slight delay but I hope this general information will help you a little. I wish you a wonderful time in India and hope you choose the right curry's for your stomach. A Hotel in mumbai  should not be a problem. Check with your consulate and tourist information on arrival. there are lots of places you can stay in for very little as the Rupee is very favourable for westeners. I will try to get you names  and prices a little later. Enjoy  yourself. Happy journey.
