Travelling to tanzania?

Im a British citizen and will be travelling to Tanzania in a month to stay with a friend for a few weeks. It is advisable to get a visa before travel or on entry, and do i register my being there at the Brit Consulate over there?

The british high Commission in Tanzania is not helpful at all. Thery are only adding more s**t every morning to the already clogged up sewerage systems of Dar Es Salaam. Useless b******s and b*****s!!!!
