Travelling with a cat on an airplane

Question

I was wondering if someone has ever travelled in plane with their cats to another country for flight that last over 15 hours. If so, can you give me an idea of how this works? Is the cat considered as luggage or is there a fee that you need to pay. Also, who takes care of the cat while she is on the plane? Thanks a lot!

Check with the airline.  On Delta, for example, you can take your pet with you as a carry on.  You should also check with your vet about some mild sedatives for the trip if your cat doesn't travel well.

They usually travel as cargo when you are traveling to another country.
