Travelling with expiring passport to India?

my Indian passport is expiring in septemper 2008 but I want to go to India on first week of april which means passport expiring in five months can I travel with this passport?I'm an Indian and I can renew it from India

You should only need 1 -3 months on your passport but it will depend on the country , maybe try check the consulate page on the web for further information, but I'm sure you will be fine as long as you renew it before doing any further travel out of India.
