Hey, I don't have a passport yet, and I just wanted to make sure that I don't need one travelling within Canada. My family and I are going on vacation to Toronto, Ottawa and Montreal and I just wanted clarification that a birth certificate is enough?

  1. No passport needed to travel in Canada.

  2. Are you Canadian?

If you're Canadian you do not need a passport to travel within Canada.

edit:  All you'll need is a drivers license to travel within Canada.  If you go to the US you'd need a passport now (before you'd just need a birth certificate).

  3. No, a birth certificate is not enough.  If you are flying within Canada you need a government issued photo ID such as your driver's license.  Also make sure that your airline tickets are in the exact same name as the one that is on your driver's license.  If the names are not exactly the same you may not be allowed to board the plane.  I have seen that happen.  Best of luck.

  4. no passport needed...x*x

  5. Not any more. Assuming you are a US Citizen, Now you need either a passport or a passport card.

  6. Nope you don't need a passport or birth certificate when traveling within Canada but make sure you have a photo ID (driver's license etc.)
