Travels with Charley - book by John Steinbeck?

Does anyone know of any time in this book that symbolism is used??? I have been having extreme difficulty finding any and I need it for an assignment. If anyone could help, I would greatly appreciate it.

I also thought that maybe the hurricane, Donna, in the beginning may symbolize the difficulties that the man will have to face during his journey. I am not sure though.

Does the character have a hard journey? Full of dangers, the way a hurricane destroys things in its path? If so, then state that in your paper, then mention which parts reminded you of a hurricane, and why. Your teacher wants symbolism as YOU interpretet it.
