Question:

Travertine Countertop Refinishing?

by  |  earlier

0 LIKES UnLike

I have travertine countertops in my kitchen that have become stained and have water marks and other marks on it. I tried several chemicals to try to get the stains off, but was unsuccessful.

Can anyone shed light on what I need to do to get my countertops looking good again? I really appreciate any feedback that anyone can shed on the subject.

Thx

  1. You may find someone wo can grind them down , past the stains, then re-polish the top.

I have been experimenting with stains on cement tiles which would be somewhat similar. I have found that sunshine plus plain water is removing some coffee, red wine and mud stains that had settled into the smooth polished cement tile surface. I did these experiments to determine what sealer and wax ( or not) was best. I will put a link to my test results, meanwhile, if you could rig up a full spectrum light (do a search for one) and try to simulate the sun beaming down on them for a continuous time it could help. My test tiles have bleached out in about a week of sun and a bit of rain.
