Travis Ishikawa's RBIs help San Francisco Giants defeat Arizona Diamondbacks 5-4 – MLB Update
Travis Ishikawa struck an RBI double in the start of the ninth inning as the San Francisco Giants beat Arizona Diamondbacks 5-4 at Salt River Fields, Arizona on March 15.
Right-hander Guillermo Mota, who is contending for the single open place in the Giants’ bull-pen, permitted one unearned run in his first inning of work.
Freddy Sanchez hit a single home-run while Aubrey Huff went two runs for four at-bats with a two-run homer and a double for the Giants. San Francisco took the lead-off in the mid of third inning when Sanchez smashed the throw of Barry Enright above the wall
in left-center position.
Enright permitted just a single run on four strikes with one hit out and one walk in three innings. Enright, who is struggling with Armando Galarraga and Aaron Heilman for the last two positions in the alternation, permitted just one run on four strikes
in three innings. Galarraga come to play in the fifth inning and offered three runs on three strikes in the three innings work.
The two home-runs by Aubrey Huff added three-runs in the fifth inning that provided the Giants with a 4-3 lead. Galarraga nearly managed to dig out of the inning with just a single run after reserving Andres Torres and Sanchez, before making a blunder on
a 1-0 throw to Huff.
The Diamondbacks seized a 2-0 lead in the first inning when Chris Young made a single homer against the Giants’ starter Madison Bumgarner. In the meantime, Bumgarner permitted a couple of runs on four strikes over four innings while hitting out six batters.
Justin Upton also permitted two doubles and two walks while hitting out six batters in four innings.
The Diamondbacks acquired one run in the mid of first inning when Young doubled, swapped third and got out after Buster Posey's pitch cruised away Pablo Sandoval. Gerardo Parra made a home-run in the eighth inning which fixed it before Ishikawa gave the
Giants a big lead with a ninth-inning RBI double.
Pinch runner Emmanuel Burriss posted no score to broaden the Diamondbacks’ losing streak up to seven games. The Diamondbacks have not succeeded since the game played on March 8.
The Diamondbacks will have a rapid rotation after this game and make themselves prepare against the Los Angeles Angels at Salt River Fields in Talking Stick. Ian Kennedy, who was listed in the club's Opening Day starter, will acquire a chance against the
Angels. Closer J.J. Putz is lined up to make his second Cactus League emergence.
It will be interesting to see how the Giants manage to carry their confidence and winning momentum into their next match-up.
