Travis Masse to be sentenced to prison on July 21 for his involvement in illegal relation with minor
Travis Masse, the former Broomfield High School teacher and wrestling coach was proved guilty on Tuesday afternoon and will be sentenced to prison on July 21. The 29-year old, Masse was involved in having illicit relations with a girl, who was her wrestling
manager as well. Masse also used to teach her history and sociology at Broomfield High School.
The hearing of his case began on last Thursday and the jury had convicted him of child-pattern of abuse and illegitimate relationship. The prosecutors declared that Masse sent eighty-nine hundred text messages to the girl that were vulgar and against nature.
The tenure of the messages according to the prosecutors was between the month of December 2008 and February 2009.
The lawyer for Masse, Pamela Mackey said that the girl’s description of having any relationship with Masse weren’t convincing. The lawyer told that there is no physical evidence or witness for this case. She further added on that the phone records indicated
that both of them texted each other, but did not have any kind of intimate relation.
The investigation of the case started in September 2009 by the Broomfield Police. It is reported that the girl, who is now married, was of fifteen years and the two got closer when she was at her junior school at the age of seventeen.
The prosecutor, Lisa Hunt, mentioned that the wrestling coach had misused the girl and trained her for the illicit act before she entered her high school. The physical relation started when the two were on a trip to Florida with the wrestling team and Masse
slept with the girl in the hotel room.
Masse has been scheduled for another trial for his class-five felony of having illegal relationships with the girl whose name has not been disclosed. His wife was also the softball team coach and mathematics teacher of the innocent girl.
The award-winning coach of the year 2009, Travis Masse hails from the Canon City and is a young father.
