Treasure Beach & Seville, the Aidan O’Brien duo will take part in the Grand Prix de Paris to face French Reliable Man and Bubble Chic
The Aidan O’Brien trained duo, Treasure Beach and Seville, who were the first and second in the Group 1 Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby, entirely for colts and fillies at the Curragh on 26 June, 2011, will lock horns in the Grand Prix de Paris at Longchamp with the French equivalent winner and runner up, Reliable Man and Bubble Chic.
The A De Royer, Dupre trained son of Dalakhani, Reliable Man and G Botti trained Bubble Chic, were the respective horses to finish first and second in the Group 1 Prix Du Jockey Club at Chantilly on 5 June, 2011, the Irish Derby equivalent.
Treasure Beach, who recently bagged the Irish Derby for trainer Aidan O’Brien under jockey C O’Donoghue, when he defeated his stable mate Seville by a ¾ of a length, has a reputation of performing in the big races.
Aidan O’Brien launched Treasure Beach in the Group 1 Investec Derby at Epsom prior to the Irish Derby, only to feel the agony of losing the English Derby by a head to the French raider, Pour Moi.
It was a stunning performance by Treasure Beach that showed his connections that he can perform and raise his level for a top class race against top class rivals.
The Group 3 Chester Vase was also won by Treasure Beach on 5 May, 2011, at Chester that shows that the three-year-old bay colt has had a fantastic season with earnings of £970,091.
On the other hand, three-year-old grey colt, Reliable Man, has picked up three wins out of three starts.
He only started his career on 12 April, 2011, but he has provided his connections with a hat-trick of wins already.
Prior to the Group 1 Prix du Jockey Club win, Reliable Man landed the Prix du Monte Pagnotte also at Chantilly on 9 May, 2011.
He won the 3-year-old colts and geldings event over a distance of 1 mile and 2 furlongs among four other horses.
Seville, on the other hand, also trained by Aidan O’Brien has a lone win in her two year career.
The three-year-old colt has had 6 starts overall with four runner-up finishes and a total of £302,572 as earnings.
He has been a little unlucky, with two graded stakes races runner up positions.
One behind Casamento in the Group 1 Racing Post Trophy at Doncaster on 23 October, 2010 and the other behind Carlton House in the Group 2 Totesport Dante Stakes at York on 12 May, 2011.
The French three-year-old colt Bubble Chic also has a lone win out of his eight starts.
That too a maiden race win, but since then he has finished on the cards almost every race he ran with six runner-up positions.
The best of Britain and France will come together on 14 July at Longchamp to decide who is the best among the best.
