What does "Here's to ourselves, and hold your luff, plenty of prizes and plenty of duff." mean from the book Treasure Island?

  1. To luff, in sailing, is to sail as close to the wind  as possible without the sail flapping.  To hold your luff would be to keep it up.  Duff is the cheap pudding served to sailors.
