Treating shin splints.?

I have developed shin splints in the past week and I was wondering if there was anything I could do to treat/cure it. I've been resting and icing it but it doesn't seem to be getting better. HELP?! I really need to be able to compete in a cheerleading competition in about 3 weeks.

  1. Really, there is no way to quicken the healing of shin splints.  They are the worst!  Try soaking your bottom legs in an ice bath.  Shin splints can take months to heal if you continually use your legs.  You need to wear appropriate shoes, even at practice.  Get shoes for shin splints if you cant take time off and only wear cheer shoes when you absolutley have to.
