Question:

Treatment for Itching ?

Today I woke up noticing that I my whole body is itchy. My whole body had weird swollen rashes all over it. Starting from my elbows, arms, legs, thighs, chest, stomach, back... The more I scratch, the more it sells up. It really looks disgusting. My doctor couldn't identify it and just told me to put some itch cream but it doesn't work. I never had any allergies or itches like these before. A friend advised Diphenhydramine Hydrochloride (Antihistamine) tablets the common Benadryl.

Do you know any possible treatment(s) for this?

Does Histamine have anything to do with the itching?

Will Diphenhydramine Hydrochloride / Benadryl solve this problem?

Please help me and Thank you

  1. You should go to a dermatologist (if you went to your GP for the consult), it could be an allergic reaction to something on your sheets, or bites from a bed bug. Not all doctors are adept at figuring out skin problems.

There's also a chance it's scabies, brought on by microscopic mites that bite and burrow into your skin to lay eggs. It presents in a similar manner, particularly if your itch is worse at night. If it is scabies (which is contagious), you can apply a one-time medicine that takes care of the mites, but the itching can take around 2 weeks to disappear. Again, a qualified doctor will be able to diagnose the problem better and it's not a goodcalamine self-medicate.

In the meantime, calamine lotion helps soothe the skin, so that could be a temporary solution. Please don't delay and go to your dermatologist ASAP, and try not to come in contact with people just to be on the safe side.

    Hope you feel better soon!
