My dog has just started tetracyline to treat for possible lyme disease after a tick bite 2-3 weeks ago. he has a raised temperature and is under the weather but showing no sign of lameness,he is eating well and enjoying his walks but not obviously as much as he usually does. how soon should we see a response to the tablets? Thanks

  1. i think dogs should be treated in the same way as humans, when it comes to healing it anyway. just kinda give it the same treatment and diagnosis as you would as a human with lyme disease but remember it's only so big so if u have to use herbs or something just think of it as like a young one like you know how they give like 1/4 or so of tylenol to them as opposed to someone of your size. maybe u should read this twice because i'm kind of insomniac right now

  2. Didn't the doctor tell you how soon you should see a difference in him?  I'm surprised he didn't tell you to bring him back if he didn't feel better in a day or two.  I would suggest you call to find out.

I thought doxycycline was the preferred antibiotic for this disease but your vet would certainly know best.  He should feel better in about 48 hours but I would call the Dr. after that if you don't see a difference.

  3. i think dogs should be treated as cows
