Question:

Tree fell on car, NEED help ?

So the old and huge oak tree in our front yard has taken another victim...our neighbors car. Thankfully it wasn't my head....because we have worried for some time that it was going to fall over my room.

So....I have no idea what to do, where to start, who does what, how much is this going to cost....the questions go on and on and on.

Does anyone know of anything or anyone that could help?

I guess at this point we need to do several things- get the tree moved from our neighbors car, cut up and taken away and then we also need to have the remaining part of the tree that is still standing...which is a lot....to be cut down too.

Any info would be a great deal of help.

  1. Call your insurance company first!

  2. Contact you home owners' insurance and see if it's a covered loss.  Hopefully, you won't have to pay for the neighbor's car out of your pocket.

Contact a tree service to do the cutting up and cutting down.

  3. Actually You are responsible for your tree My sister had her neighbors old oak fall and take out her barn. The old mans home owners insurance had to cover it one hundred percent.Call your insurance to arrange for them to take care of the tree and the car. They can arrange all that.

  4. Your homeowner's insurance ought to cover this situation.  Call them and see how to proceed.  And take pictures before you move or cut up the tree.

  5. sounds harsh, but, their car isn't your problem. it's considered an act of God and they will deal with Their insurance company about it. The tree in the road is your/cities issue to hash out. good luck!
