Question:

Tree genus question for tree in Las Vegas, Nevada?

I took some pics, and it seems to me as some kind of fibrous willow, but not sure. What is it? I took some seed pods and cannot find them anywhere.

  1. My first guess is the Honey Locust Gleditsia triacanthos inermis looking at the rough bark and pods. The leaves are not in focus to allow an idea of their detail so I can't tell if they are compound or not.

    Alternately it could be an Acacia, possibly the Shoestring (Acacia stenophylla) or, more likely, the Sweet Acacia (A. smallii). There is a willow leaved Acacia (A. salicina) that has simple leaves but not so long and narrow as the Shoestring  Acacia's.
