Question:

Treeless English Saddles?

Does anyone have any experience with them? I've never ridden in one, but I'm considering one for my hard to fit horse. I can't stand western saddles (no communication between horse and rider) and I'm not sure if there are any parallels to be drawn between treeless and western. I've seen a few treeless dressage saddles advertised. What do I need to know before I go looking for one? And what are your experiences with them? Thanks!

  1. I found them uncomfortable, but that's just me. For a hard to fit horse, may I recommend WOW saddles. They can be altered to fit any horse. My friend has one for her horse who she previously couldn't find a saddle to fit! They're not cheap like :-(

  2. well i have had one before they are great. well if you don't want to get a treeless there is another option that has a tree and you can always adjust it so it will fit your horse. they are called specialized saddles. you can get English or western and if you still want a treeless saddle i think the Hilason saddles are the best western treeless saddle in the world they don't really even look like they are treeless. well i hope i helped Sabrina

  3. I have ridden in them they are SO comfy and you have a much deeper sat which is good. When you go back to a normal one it really hurts lol. Only problems are the girth: it fastens under the horses belly not the side of the saddle so most of the time someone else has to do it for you. Also the one i rode on has a funny position for the stirrups and they seemed a bit far back. But i still think they are great and they are easily adjustable to the horse and can mould to it's shape.

  4. I haven't ridden in a treeless saddle but I do have a Wintec saddle with  the adjustable girth system.  There is also the more expensive leather Bates with the same system.  You can Google Wintec and find out about them.  I bought mine from Ebay for 625.00 and that included all the gullet sizes and leathers and stirups.  Just an idea that might help you

  5. I'm not going to lie, I can't stand riding in them. If you can find a standard saddle that fits, that would be the best.
