Treeless Saddle and tacking up?

Question

I have bought my first treeless saddle and it's coming in today. Is there anything I should know about how to tack up with it? Is it any different than a traditional one? Thanks!

Well congrats, I think you will like it. I believe there is only traditional ones, but I am not sure. Just keep it clean and place it in a cool place. And it is better if you keep it out of moisture. Have fun with it!  =D

I have always seen them tacked up the same. I would just look for any sign that is doesnt fit just the same as you would with a normal saddle. Just stuff like pinching (doubt it..) or rubbing.

THere isn't much diffrence.  Just be for warned if you have a troting horse the shock absorbtion is diffrent becasue there is no tree to absorb it.  if you have a gaited horse you will love it but be careful for rubbing becasue the saddle will move with the motion of the horse so i would suggest to not use neoprene or any type of rubbery matrial saddle pad becasue it agrivated the hairs.  USe a fleece or wool(wool is better because it has a cooling system and dosn't cause friction.

if its western cinched. besure to not over tighten it.  Its easy to do since the saddle will conform to his back and really snug down.   But..... if its new, it should come with some instructions for tacking up, cleaning and storage.  I had a Bob Marshall and it had a booklet with it when I got it.

The main difference according to my friends that use treeless saddles is that you don't place as far forward as you might a treed saddle.
