  1. In case you haven't noticed, this is a science section! your type questions would be better asked in "Society&Culture".The Mythology category.

    EDIT

I read serious not scientific.Perhaps we need a "Mystical Botany"section.

  2. No, they aren't. A tree is a large perennial woody plant, larger than a shrub.

  3. No, they are just trees.

This kind of question is best asked in Mythology & Folklore. There is no scientific content in your question, and "Alternative" does not mean alternative to science.

  4. "Rooted in the earth but with their branches pointing to the heavens, trees are, like humans themselves, creatures of two worlds, intermediaries between the above and below. Not only were specific trees or an entire grove revered in many ancient civilizations as the abode of supernatural beings (divinities, elemental spirits) but also the tree was widely seen as the axis mundi around which the universe is organized...."

This doesn't exactly answer your question, I'm afraid. But from this, I'd lean toward a tree being a connector to all.

  5. more like "hair" she likes it when you stroke them.

  6. It's consoling to see I'm not the only one who's gone three or four days with barely any sleep around here...

  7. Guardians of Gaea? You're asking a mythological question in Science & Mathematics > Alternative > General - Alternative. There is a mythology category that would seem ideal for mythology questions.

Alternative refers to scientific theories not in the mainstream, or which counter currently accepted theories. It doesn't mean ideas totally devoid of scientific content.

  8. or trees could be placed here by an alien race, for teraforming purposes. Hey it worked.

--- You can keep asking these questions here, its fine, science is driven by imagination

  9. have you ever seen a tree die from old age?

Trees are mysterious as they are wonderful.

Throughout history there are legends and folklore of tree people. "dryads" that are entities that lure people into the woods and used them to fertilize the gound.

But like all myths, there's only a seed of truth.

probably just some crazy lady running naked in the woods killing people.
