Trees are crops?

Paper mills are run by huge corparations now and therfor do not want to run out of trees. Much like a farmer with a corn crop cant afford to be in business for long without corn. So is it true that these huge paper comapnies treat trees as a crop and plant more and more? therefor the more paper we use the more trees that will be planted.

Yes. Most paper companies use the pine tree. They can mature in as little as 20 years-so there is less than a 25 year turn around on a plot of land.

Some however do use the larger varieties of trees in the North West that are very old and very large--maybe there should be some restraint on these older forest.

true papermills do plant in areas that that have been cut

true they will treat the forests like crops

true by planting now ensures a harvest able product for the future

however recently less than one third of the seedlings are planted now then what was planted only 5 years ago

past and present governments are taking a less active roll in forest maintenance and relying on the companies to police themselves which is not working very well

the governments need to take a greater roll in the self preservation of our forests for the future and not rely on the companies to do it because if they(corporations) don't have to they wont

Yes, that is what is going on, and has been for many years. The trick is to also recycle paper, as that does not require as many trees, or energy to produce, and does not require landfill space for the waste.

Yes, its true paper companies plant trees to assure their future supplies and they treat them as a crop. Yes its good to plant trees and then use them as furniture for example (paper plants produce lots of pollution) since trees captured CO2 and then if its not burned or rotten but turned into a chair the CO2 will not be released. Use less paper, many sources for this material are not legal or from companies that plant them as crops but that create deforestation, its much cheaper to take down an old tree in the forest than planting and taking care of one for years.
