Tremlett undergoes back operation in London
The lanky England pacer Chris Tremlett on Wednesday underwent back surgery. The injury had cut short his tour of the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/United-Arab-Emirates-c3033, where his teammates are playing Pakistan.
The 30-year-old http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 at Dubai last month before a recurring back injury forced him to fly home. He missed the second and the third Test match.
The fast bowler, who stands at six feet and seven inches, had sustained the back injury during Trent Bridge Test against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 at home last summer. The first Test match at Dubai was his first Test appearance after a lengthy injury lay-off, spanning five
months. He was not able to withstand the rigours of Test match cricket, and broke down once again.
The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), on Thursday confirmed Tremlett’s surgery. In a statement issued by the ECB, it was revealed that “the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c749 pace bowler Chris Tremlett had undergone a back operation at a London hospital last night
(Wednesday, February 8, 2012)”.
The statement, however, did not give a time frame for his recovery and return to the English setup.
"The player's rehabilitation programme will be closely supervised by the England medical team in conjunction with Surrey CCC and a date for his return to cricket will be agreed in due course," the statement further read.
The 30-year-old right-arm seamer made his international debut in June 2005 against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747 at Nottingham in an ODI. To date, he has played 15 One Day Internationals claiming 15 wickets.
He rose to prominence when he claimed 17 wickets in just three matches during the 2010-11 Ashes series Down Under, which his side won 3-1. He had earlier made his Test debut in July 2007 and so far Tremlett has played 11 Tests, picking up 49 wickets at an
impressive average of 26.75.
Tremlett who has slowly established himself as a regular for England will not be happy with the current setback. England play Pakistan in a four match ODI series in the UAE, and the pace bowler will once again miss out.
