  1. You have done very well.  Both do very well in dealing with viruses and are top notch.  The beauty about Trend Micro is that is runs off its own servers and its virus elimination software is outside your computer.  Norton is one of the two best selling Anti-virus application that work from inside.  Vista normally has problems with 2 or more anti-viruses, but also using Trend Micro, you can and go to the head of the class.  A lot of people confuse the free version of Norton with the much stronger pay for version.  As long as you are satisfied with the speed of your applications, stay with the excellent choices you've already made.  A 3rd party firewall will offer additional protection, but with what you have, I'm not sure it's worth the effort.

Most of all, happy computing. You are in great shape

  2. I think trend micro is best...

but for the cost of nothing... after using trend micro for 5 years... i found that avast is a lot better

and for spyware... spyware blaster and spybot search and destroy...also both free

you can have more than 1 firewall running but it is better to just have 1 in case issues occur... windows firewall is more than effective for general browsing at home.

  3. Most malwares are designed to attack popular

antivirus products (like Norton), but since free anti-virus product is much less used, it's capable of fighting the viruses when industry leaders fail.

Avast Home Edition version 4.8 is an effective anti-virus program.

You can do a boot time scan remove every single virus on your PC. Even those viruses that hide inside the system restore folder.

    Free for personal use.
