Trent Boult included for the upcoming ODIs – Cricket News Update
New Zealand selectors have included young pacer, Trent Boult, into the 16-man squad which will take on http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 in the forthcoming five-match ODI series, beginning on Thursday.
The 22-year-old had been included in the Test squad which will battle the Windies but was further considered for the One-day arena as well with the Kiwis looking to bolster their bowling lineup. The team has made slow progress in the current year and was completely outplayed in the two T20Is against the host side at Florida with bowling being their weakest link.
“The current squad already has sufficient batting resources and we felt that bolstering the bowling stocks was the right option," the national selection manager Kim Littlejohn said. "Trent was always part of the Test squad and has been on stand-by for the ODI series. Having him join the team early will also benefit his preparation for the Test matches."
The first game saw the Windies amass a whopping 209 on the board, with Black Caps falling well short of the target, bowled out on 153. The next T20 witnessed a similar tale, as the Caribbean Giants scored 177 and in reply restricted their opponents to a lowly 116.
Boult’s inclusion is expected to add potency to the fast bowling department, with the player in line to make his first ODI appearance.
The tourists are already suffering with injuries to key personnel. Their skipper, Ross Taylor, missed the second T20I after picking up a shoulder injury during the first game. He is also expected to miss the early part of the 50-over series but for now, has been named as captain.
