Trent Grimsey seizes Men’s 36km gold medal: FINA Open Water Swimming Grand Prix 2012 - Capri-Napoli
Trent Grimsey of Australia seized gold medal of the Men’s 36km race at the Federation Internationale de Natation Amateur (FINA) Open Water Swimming Grand Prix 2012 in Capri-Napoli, Italy on Sunday, June 17.
Capri-Napoli is the fourth stage of the eight-juncture FINA Grand Prix Series, which allows the world-class open water players to compete each other in a series of events.
The Australian swimmer stunned the spectators with his fascinating form in the Men’s distant event as he captured gold medal. With his relentless efforts and astonishing pace, Grimsey remained much quicker as compared to his opponents and secured gold medal
of the event.
He continued his smothering efforts throughout the race and captured gold medal of the event with an effort of 6 hours, 29 minutes and 32 seconds.
His title claiming effort remained almost three minutes faster from Edoardo Stochino of Italy, who proved his audacity for silver medal of the discipline by submitting an effort of 6 hours, 32 minutes and 46 seconds.
Third position of the discipline was secured by Andrea Volpini of Italy, who stayed nearly four minutes apart and hit the finishing line with the timing of 6 hours, 36 minutes and 04 seconds.
The bronze medallist was followed by Alexander Studzinski of Germany, who failed to reach the podium and finished fourth in the event with an effort of 6 hours, 39 minutes and 32 seconds.
Fifth position of the discipline was secured by Damian Blaum of Argentina, who was only thirteen seconds apart and posted a time of 6 hours, 39 minutes and 45 seconds.
Blaum was chased by Evgenij Pop Acev of Macedonia, who secured sixth position of the discipline by producing a time of 6 minutes and 45.26 seconds.
Similarly, Acev remained almost one minute ahead of Libor Smolka of Czech, who occupied seventh position of the long distance event by producing a time of 6 minutes and 46.35 seconds.
Furthermore, these swimmers will face each other in the fifth stop of the tournament that will take place in Canada at Lac St-Jean on July 28 while the winners received medals after the session.
