Trevor Bayliss plans to quit as Lanka coach after 2011 World Cup
Trevor Bayliss, the Sri Lankan cricket coach, intends to step down from his role after next year's World Cup. Bayliss, after having spent three years with Sri Lanka team, is looking forward to spend more time with his family - wife
and teenage children - who still live in Sydney, Australia.
Bayliss is in Sydney these days with the Lankan cricket team ahead of its limited-over series against Ponting’s men. The former New South Wales coach told the media reporters that he is seeking for a new job. Sri Lanka will start its
limited-over series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 with a T20I in Perth on 31st October, followed by three One Day Internationals.
Sri Lanka’s tour to Australia is part of its preparations for the 2011 World Cup that goes underway in the subcontinent from 19th February, 2011. Sri Lanka is one of the three hosts of next year’s ICC World Cup – other two
being http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747. Last time, the ICC’s flagship event was hosted by the subcontinent in 1996 and the Sri Lanka side had lifted the World Cup trophy and the Lankan coach is once again optimistic of his hopes in 2011.
"They've got a good chance in this World Cup coming up, and I'm looking forward to it very much," said Bayliss.
Another former Australian cricketer, Rodney Marsh, has also tipped http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 as 2011 World Cup’s favourite team: "I would think a team from Asia would be successful, perhaps Sri Lanka,” said the former wicketkeeper of Australia.
Under Bayliss’s coaching, Sri Lanka team has so far played, 78 ODIs with a win loss ratio of 48:21. When it comes to Test cricket, Bayliss as Sri Lanka's coach, has helped them win 11 out of 25 five-dayers. Currently the side sits
third in the ICC Test rankings while fourth in ODI list.
