Trevor Laws deserts Philadelphia Eagles to join St. Louis Rams – NFL News
Defensive tackle, Trevor Laws, has deserted Philadelphia Eagles to join the St. Louis Rams. The player confirmed the news via his Twitter account on Wednesday, April 11, 2012.
He posted on his Twitter account:
“To all my people from Philly, I will miss ya. But its time to take this show to STL.”
An official statement from any of the other stakeholders has not been given yet.
Laws started his professional National Football League (NFL) career in 2008 with the Eagles, who selected him in the second round of the drafts. Before that, he used to play college football for Notre Dame.
In his rookie year, Laws started all the 16 games of the regular season without starting any and registered 12 tackles.
In his second year with Eagles, Laws did not get any start as he played 11 games and posted 10 tackles. In the next season, he started one game while playing 15 in which he got 15 tackles.
In the last NFL season, he played 14 games for Eagles and started only one and got his career-best 20 tackles.
Following the end of the last season, Laws’ contract with Eagles expired and he became a free agent.
After exploring different opportunities in the open market, he finally agreed to join the Rams, who have made some serious changes in their front office.
Following the last season, the Rams fired their head coach and general manager and brought new faces. They have also been involved in hiring different players of late and are also expected to select some college players in the upcoming NFL drafts.
On the other hand, Eagles have recently re-signed defensive tackle, Derek Landri, on a one-year deal after which it became obvious that Laws will not return to Eagles for the next season.
Landri became a free agent after the last season and after weighing different options as a free agent, he agreed to rejoin Eagles.
Meanwhile, different unconfirmed reports have suggested that Laws has joined Rams on a one-year deal. However, it is yet to be confirmed as an official statement from Rams has not been given. It is also not clear if the Rams are going to use Laws as a regular
starter or not.
