Trevor Plouffe shines as Chicago Cubs lose to Minnesota Twins 3-11 – MLB Recap
The Chicago Cubs lost to Minnesota Twins 3-11 in the second game of their three-match regular series encounter on Saturday, June 9 at Target Field in 2012 Major League Baseball season.
With this defeat, the Cubs also lost the series 2-0 with one game to spare.
Third baseman Trevor Plouffe played well for the Twins and provided a decisive to his franchise.
His four at bats proved wonderful for the Minnesota Twins as they smoothly edge past the Cubs who are showing consistently inconsistence performance from start of the season.
Plouffe remained his calm and made two important runs and four crucial RBIs which eventually gave the Twins a deserted win.
"I have tremendous respect for Gardy for having the confidence in me, I talked to him today about that. I appreciate the opportunities and hopefully they keep coming." said Plouffe.
The Twins starter Scott Diamond also played tremendously as he pitched six scoreless innings and struck out five Cubs’ potential batters.
Though he was smashed for seven hits but maintained his 1.61 ERA.
"We've been trying to attack inside the whole time, I found out last year that was my game plan and my style of pitching. Just trying to build off that and develop the other pitches around it." Diamond said after the game about his game and for his team’s united effort.
Later in the game, the Twins manager also commented in the media on his team’s great effort which provided Minnesota a balanced win.
"Right now, there's a whole different atmosphere in this clubhouse and on the field. That's a start. You have to feel like you can win every day and that starts with our starting pitching." said Ron Gardenhire.
In the meanwhile, the Minnesota Twins, despite winning this latest series against the Cubs, still lingering at bottom behind the Kansas City Royals in the American League Central Division.
On the other hand, the Cubs also need much improvement to qualify for the post season as they are also lying at bottom in the National League Central Division with 19-40 win loss along with .322 winning percentage.
