Former Everton winger, Trevor Steven believes that the Toffees duo of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Nikica-Jelavic-c27906 will be the key for the Merseyside club in their bid to return European football to Goodison Park. However, he insisted that they need to get their
season off to a good start.
Jelavic was a massive success during the Toffees 2011/12 campaign, as he scored 11 goals in just 14starts to go into the history books for becoming the fastest Everton player to reach the ten-goal mark in 100 years. Consequently, he won the Premier League
Player of the Month accolade for April. He netted 7 goals in just 4 games during the calendar month.
Gibson, like the Croatian International, joined Everton during the January transfer window. A surplus at Manchester United, the midfielder featured in 15 games for the Toffees in the previous season and ended up on the losing side just once. His lone goal
during this period came against the eventual champions, Manchester City in January in a 1-0 win at Goodison Park.
Steven, who capped 210 league appearances for Everton from 1983 to 1989, went on to praise the duo for playing the central role in their side’s ascent during the second half of the season. He felt that they will need to lead from the front all over again,
if the Toffees are to compete in intercontinental football in the near future.
He told the reporters in an interview, “He's [Gibson] been consistent, Jelavic has scored the goals, so what more do you want from players coming in? I think the quality is there that they can get back into Europe via the league next season. I think it's

The Toffees got off to a slow start during the prevenient term, winning just 3 of their first 10 league games to go down into the bottom half of the table.
However, the Englishman urged his former team that unlike their last campaign, they should be right on the money from day one, as it will lay down a strong foundation for them going into the second half of the season.
He also said that the Toffees will be further strengthened with the reinforcements which are due to arrive in the transfer window, and was hopeful that the club will be able to sign http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Steven-Pienaar-c34208 on a permanent contract.
