Trezeguet hails former club Juventus
French hitman, David Trezeguet has said he has only good memories of Juventus, the Italian club he left this summer after ten years of loyal service.
Trezeguet, who now plays for Spanish side Hercules, joined Juventus from Monaco in 2000 after he scored the winning goal for France in the European Championship final.
"Ten years with Juve was a great love story and I will forever be a fan of Juventus," he told BBC Sport.
Highest scoring foreigner
During his decade in Turin, Trezeguet became the highest scoring non-Italian player at Juventus, with 138 goals in 245 league appearances. He also scored 30 goals in Europe and three in the Coppa Italia.
Aside from his exceptional scoring record, fans will also remember the striker's undying loyalty to Juventus.
Faced with accusations of match fixing, the club was relegated to Serie B at the end of the 2005-06 season. Several of the club's stars, including Fabio Cannavaro, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Gianluca Zambrotta, left the club to keep playing top-flight football.
But along with striking partner Alessandro del Piero, Trezeguet opted to stay with Juventus as the club managed to fight back in one season, earning a Serie A-spot for the 2007-08 season.
"My best achievement in my 10 years was the promotion from Serie B to A, it was a fantastic experience because the fans thought those who chose to stay were heroes. I felt esteem and love. Around us, we had kids at the time who are now major players like Giorgio Chiellini and Claudio Marchisio. If Juventus win enough titles, I want to be the first to wear the shirt with three stars," Trezeguet said, anticipating great things to come for his old club.
New signings
Following Trezeguet and Mauro Camoranesi's departure from the club, Juventus signed midfielder Alberto Aquilani, striker Fabio Quagliarella and defenders Armand Traore and Leandro Rinaudo in the recent transfer window.
The club's next league game is against Sampdoria on Sunday.
