Triceps injury: Baltimore Ravens LB Ray Lewis seeks early return to action – NFL News
Baltimore Ravens veteran linebacker Ray Lewis has sounded ready to return to action provided the team removes him off the designated injury list.
The 17-year old veteran was on the sidelines due to a triceps injury, and all members of the organisation and media were taken by surprise when he showed up at the team facilities on Friday (Nov. 09).
Now reports have emerged in some media sections that the player’s visit was part of the exercise to seek to return to the side as earlier as he can sounding to be hundred percent healthy and fit.
Since he has been placed on an injured designated list the league rules allow him to return to action any time. The team will have to vacate the roster place while moving his placement off it.
Interestingly, Ray himself avoided confronting media directly on return to the team’s headquarters but later issued a statement expressing his eagerness to see himself in action again on the field.
He said:
"I've really missed these guys and the feel of being around the team and in the locker room. I am focused on rehabbing and getting my arm and body as strong as they can be.”
He added:
"I will speak in person when I know a little more about my progress. I'm working hard and looking forward to coming back and helping this team. But right now, the focus should be on the guys playing, and I'll be the biggest cheerleader I can be for them."
Although no official from the Ravens has commented about the player’s visit and a possible outcome of it, his colleague linebacker Terrell Suggs said it was great to see Ray back at the team facility.
Suggs himself has recently returned from a partially torn Achilles tendon and with Ray’s return, the Ravens’ defensive line will certainly get much-needed boost.
The Ravens are struggling defensively while doing better on the offence and Lewis return will add to the defence's balance. The situation around prospects of Lewis’ return is likely to be clearer in the next week, especially after the team takes him off
the injured reserve list.
